Application Process
The admission process at the American Institute of Universities (AIU) is designed to be straightforward yet academically rigorous, ensuring that every student is prepared for the “Greater Works” demanded by our holistic, work-study model.
General Admission Requirements & Documents
Before beginning the specific process for your chosen program, all applicants must meet the following foundational criteria:
Proof of Residency
All applicants must provide a valid government-issued ID (e.g., passport, driver’s license, national ID, or Birth Certificate) to verify residency at the time of enrollment.
Geographical Eligibility
Graduate programs are available to international students in all countries; however, students located in the United States must currently reside in the state of Florida for the duration of the program.
Technological Readiness
Students must acquire and maintain email access capable of sending/receiving attachments and have a device compatible with the Moodle Learning Management System.
The Rigorous Master’s Program Process
Admission to a graduate program is a multi-step journey that tests both your foundational knowledge and your commitment to high academic standards.
Step A: The Entrance Exam
- Each program requires passing a specific entrance exam (e.g., MBA001, MMKT001, MMGT001, or MEI001) in a proctored environment.
- A minimum passing score of 80% is required to move forward in the admission process.
- The exam covers core undergraduate business competencies and strategic concepts relevant to the degree.
Step B: Mandatory Prerequisite Course
- Upon passing the exam, students must successfully complete a designated first course—typically Financial Management (e.g., MBA601, MMGT601, or MEI601)—before being fully admitted to the program.
- There are no waivers available for these prerequisite requirements.
Step C: Enrollment and Evaluation
- After passing the entrance exam and prerequisite, students may register for their program of choice by completing the online enrollment agreement within 90 days.
- Once accepted, the student’s progress is evaluated at the end of every course; a grade of 80% or higher is required in every single course to remain in the program and graduate.
Dual Enrollment Process (High School Students)
AIU’s dual enrollment allows students to audit college-level courses and earn credit that satisfies both high school and future undergraduate requirements.
- Open Enrollment: AIU maintains an open enrollment policy, allowing students to take entrance exams on any date they choose.
- Registration: Students enroll with AIU prior to transferring to a degree-awarding partnering college.
Flexible Pacing: Courses are self-paced, though students are encouraged to join cohort classes and are advised not to take more than two courses per semester. - Transition to Partner Colleges: Grades earned become a permanent part of the student’s official college transcript, facilitating a smooth transfer to one of AIU’s many partnering institutions upon graduation.
